2K employees + server costs. My question is more how do they make only $10 per year for each of their 78m daily actives?

Regarding revenue per daily active user. 1. They historically have sucked at ads and didn't own their mobile or desktop client experience until very recently (see comment about API) 2. They monetize with goofy virtual goods like avatar mods and boosts and have tried (unsuccessfully) to parlay this to branded content

Does it seem like Reddit should cost a billion dollars to run, to you? Perhaps insourcing video is super expensive. 2K employees also seems like a lot considering what the site does.
