Is anyone watching candidates live? I feel like classical chess is way too slow to enjoy watching live and I much prefer the more modern events with rapid time controls of around 15 minutes. For candidates I’ve just been watching the Gotham recap every day.

Yep I enjoy watching live for the reasons you give which I why I like the 15 min time controls. Then I’m able to watch a whole game from start to finish which I don’t feel like I can do with classical :)

i don't follow the candidates live anymore due to time constraints. i've followed the last four tho. recaps are fun, but watching it as it happens - your favorite player holding on to that draw, spotting a winning tactic, or making a one move blunder - imo it's all worth witnessing live.

On the other hand in the recaps you get Gotham saying “And in this position… my man Gukesh… with his back against the wall… PLAYS ROOK TO C4 SACRIFICING THE ROOOOK!!!” 😂😂

watching the stream when games are concluding(last 20-30 min) is really entertaining. the suspense and body language of players is something i miss in recaps

Same thing here! I do think however that live commentators are doing a great job entertaining viewers with showing specific tactics. I've been looking at the recaps daily and I am really enjoying them.
