[Open Discussion] So far, one of my favorite presentations from the Network State conference comes from Zooko of Zcash. Highly recommend checking out his presentation---he has some legendary insights and quotes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWEGg-ZTtSE&t=21849s

However… While watching his presentation, I realized a strong disagreement with one of his points and would love to hear the /network-states community's thoughts. Zooko's reason #2 for privacy: - "Privacy is necessary for the viability of parallel institutions" - youtu.be/OWEGg-ZTtSE?... Contradicts my perspective of: - Privacy for the individual - Full-disclosure for the organization Why: When trust between the individual and the whole is disrupted--where one group can overpower the rest--decentralization, democracy, and freedom are threatened. How can citizens trust institutions managing their freedom if they cannot verify their integrity? What do you think? - Should organizations and institutions have privacy over their users? - Is there a middle-ground? - Are there examples of organizations who have successfully struck this balance? Looking forward to the conversation on this topic ! :]
