The Church is one of the best examples of a network state. A distributed organization with shared values, that owned property and was able to collected taxes (tithes) from its members. Are network states in part an attempt at filling the void left by a lack of religion in the western world?

Yes, this question is exactly my opinion on importance of /network-states Religion is very important, because it is the moral authority by which guides people through life. Religionless people tend to be messier and less productive because they lack a mentor to teach them how to be purposeful and kind. This mentor role will be taken by network states… where there is voting not just for rules/direction, but values/opinion as well. Ex. we vote in “All corporations should be decentralized” - this network state will always attempt to do business with DAOs, rather than corporations
