perhaps hiding likes, recasts (and arguably even many replies) should be rare? let's think about this like a shopping mall - if you only allowed people to enter the mall if they proved they were going to buy something, malls would feel much more dead, leading to even fewer people interested in buying. merely having a lot of activity motivates consumption, even if most present aren't actually contributing. non-contributive behavior is not necessarily bad
