This literally feels like the “right click save” of minting. 

As an artist, I don’t want people minting my artwork that I share as a cast.

This should be opt-in.

And before anyone says it, just because someone can, doesn’t mean they should, or that you should make it easier for them to.

I think this is an important point that deserves conversation. I completely agree with @ashira. People shouldn't take my media files and mint them. And I don't want to be sent ETH in return either. Makes me implicitly agree unless I send it back every time. A huge headache. Have some respect.

Also, one issue that didn't occur to me immediately but is obviously going to happen a lot: People share media they didn't create, and this system will send ETH to the people who shared, not the people who created the work in the first place. There are so many issues here it's mind-boggling.

That's fine, he can have that opinion, but I have the right to disagree. I'm very deliberate about what I list for sale and at what prices, and taking my work that I don't think is of finished quality and selling it for a price I didn't agree to is extremely offensive (never mind the legal issues with it).

Agree there is an important conversation here, which I think is at the core of what @gami is intending to provoke. My understanding is that he thinks the default behaviour should be to mint all media as a record to the blockchain at the point of putting it online.
