Every January I mark all of my credit cards as lost so they issue me fresh physicals & rotate the card numbers. I then get barraged by emails from companies that tried to charge me a recurring subscription on the now defunct card. This helps me cut down on unnecessary subscriptions that accumulate during the year.

I've seen subscriptions charged to expired cards. Is it different when a card is marked lost?
