I did not create this rule but I have thought a lot about it and am leaning in favor of it. I'll have to write a blog post on the topic, there's a lot to say, and I don't have the time (or space here) to do the topic justice. But I'll give you one very simple point to think about. I think both are untenable. So the only viable option is I hide casts I don't understand. Now I could say "all languages I speak are fine, the others are not" but that's even more arbitrary. So sticking to one common language that is broadly understood seems the best option.

Note that hiding a cast in a channel does not prevent anybody from speaking to anybody. It just makes that cast not show in the channel. And anybody is free to create a different channel that serves a popular language. If people want to talk about art in Korean a channel for that would be great.

But I don't speak Korean and I don't know what to do with casts in Korea and I'm not going to manually copy every Korean cast into Google translate to make sure the content is Ok. If at some point we have one-click auto-translate in Warpcast I'm happy to reconsider.

I tried to delete and recast but somehow the warpcast user interface got in the way and wouldn't let me do it.

How am I supposed to moderate a cast in a language I don't understand? Do I just ignore it, and thus apply different (and lower) standards to all casts in a language I don't speak? Or am I supposed to copy the text into Google translate to make sure the cast is fine (I've done that, more than once)?

Responded to them. Inclusivity is key. This is not that.
