I’m developing a thesis around “cozy tech” to complement my cozyweb thesis, and need to collect more examples. Examples so far: - Tailscale - Zerotier - Pihole for ad blocking - llamafile (client grade LLM from Mozilla) - RPi used in any physically collocated role - Maybe digital ocean? - IP cameras on home wifi that don’t need an app or cloud - Any robotics that aren’t appliances attached to a cloud and can function without internet access Can you think of others? Criterion is: A function normally served by a trusted third party operating at Internet scale being provisioned at workgroup/family/tribe scale (“intranet” but not F100 scale) with low/no-code level of expertise. Software maintenance dependency only, but ideally to open source and on very slow, conservative update cadence. Very strong bias towards updates not breaking backward compatibility, and old versions being maintained far longer (and therefore conservatively built up front)

Jellyfin (& Plex/PlexAmp is slightly more cloud centric but more social and in line with cozy thesis I would bet) There’s probably a lot of inspiration here on /r/selfhosted which I think dovetails with this list

This list is pretty enormous but will have some good stuff on it too https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted some other highlights: Calibre (for books) Immich (for photos) Navidrome/Subsonic for music (Plex also fits this one)
