They want complete control, they could easily "figure it out" by not forcing metal on everyone and add Vulcan support. They'd rather force people to port their games over and put them on the Mac App Store than flip a switch and let 90% of the games people have already bought on steam be playable

i think it’s this too. I believe they’d only allow it if they could launch an apple native steam-esque client & force developers to ship apple versions of their game, playable online and can only be purchased from an iGaming storefront. bc one thing they’re gonna do is extract capital wherever whenever.
