Snapchain testnet went live at 4pm today. 

Over 20,000 blocks have been produced already with a million messages processed. This is real data from mainnet that is mirrored over to test Snapchain's integrity.

It's hard to understate how big of a deal this is. 

@sanjay @dynemyte and @cassie researched, designed and implemented a novel social blockchain in less than 6 months processing real live data. I think it might be a new world record.

Snapchain is important because it solves many of the sync issues that Farcaster developers face today. Once snapchain is out we'll have the foundations to scale to millions of users in the near future. 

More importantly, Snapchain also lays a foundation on which we can develop important ux improvements. Zero-cost signers, app-based storage and other novel ideas require a strongly ordered network, which we finally have. 

We're very excited for what's going to be possible very soon. Next step: mainnet!
