Web3 will eventually become permissioned and “centralized”, but will be more decentralized and more permissionless than web2. 

Today’s vision of full permissionless decentralization is a cycle or two away, in web4 or web5.

This is okay. It is inevitable.

i assume it will be permissionless but a compute and network latency race with tightly aligned validators/miners.

so still permissionless, but the only way to make money at the protocol level is to roll up with multiple billions in infrastructure cost.
