aggregating subculture was what made reddit great (drawing users away from decentralized forums), so how might protocols reclaim that in the future? for example, SMS, RSS, and email have stagnated for decades while corporations have innovated on devices

That's what we're trying to do with Farcaster! Our current thinking is make something that's really great for Ethereum natives, then expand to cryptonatives, then tech-savvy folks, then normal people. But once the protocol is permissionless, anyone can try their own strategy.
