Spotify has two types of ownership instruments: ordinary shares, which have economic value, and beneficiary certificates, which give voting rights but no economic value. Founders Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon continue to dominate ownership and voting power. Oridnary shares: - Ek: 15.65% - Lorentzon: 10.92% Beneficiary certificates: - Ek: 39.0% - Lorentzon: 61.0% Total voting rights are calculated by combining both ordinary shares and beneficiary certificates. Despite owning fewer ordinary shares, Lorentzon has greater voting power because he holds more beneficiary certificates than Ek. The final breakdown of voting rights: Lorentzon: 42.7% Ek: 30.5% https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/who-owns-spotify-in-2024

I feel like Ek gets all the attention. I know very little about Martin, even though he's the one negotiating deals with record labels and other partners. I certainly had no clue that he actually has more control over the company compared to Ek
