Take two, using chatGPT and @keccers.eth tone (SORRY KATHERINE I AM STUDYING YOU HARD) New paper says aging hits tanycytes around the 3rd ventricle hardest (blood-brain barrier vibes) But the methods section? They pulled cells from a whole other spot... under a reverse light/dark cycle. Aging or jet-lagged mice? 👀

Sort of tangential, but thanks to Trump Things there has been new debate reawakened about the translatability of animal models at all. This whole thing and QT interesting https://x.com/Willyintheworld/status/1883280548099154373

not tangential at all! i don't get what is being proposed here tho--skip right to humans? :S i presume we still need to do baseline safety work in animals the other awkward thing is animal models between mice and humans are probably closer to humans on a spectrum, but in western society we are very not-ok with testing on "higher" lifeforms

People are finding even mice testing problematic I think no solve posited per se more so worth wondering if we do find an alternate way if it’s worth resurrecting failed candidates
