on today's Farcaster dev call @dwr.eth repeatedly stated that the #1 priority is to improve the quality of content on the network I think he's wrong. Let me tell you why. (disclosure: I told Dan i was going to write this. i hope it spurs some debate) the #1 most important priority is for Farcaster to become more onchain "quality content" already exists in other places and there's no reason or benefit for it to come to Farcaster unless there's some uniquely onchain elements that vastly improve it and tbh most of the content that gets lots of engagement on CT is polarizing debates that the FC community hates the world doesn't need another place to yap about the NBA; it does need better ways to wager, play fantasy games, get access to bts content the world doesn't need another place to yap about what you cooked; the world does need more ways for foodies to get rewarded for sharing great recipes the way to win is by using onchain to change the paradigm and lure people in with the benefits as they emerge

as a content creator migrated over from web2 world I find myself in a bit of a dilemma vast majority of fc users are here for onchain activities with speculative elements minority are friends who vibe i continue to share what appeals to the minority and scratch my head about what would appeal to the majority

creator friends have come here, checked the place out and left bc they don’t have the social connections built over time, and don’t understand crypto lingo / the meta enough to engage in conversations happening I am thinking about making a gsheet / urban dictionary for fc to educate them bc words we throw around like “bags” are not comprehensible to the outside world

so I agree with the original point that more onchain / financialization elements are needed to entice people to move over and it needs to be extremely simple and translatable like “web3 gumroad” or something bc the onboarding friction is very high for “quality content creator” types who are not crypto native

Even as an artist who markets my art in cryptocurrency, the learning curve was extremely steep and I routinely forego engaging in many of the financial incentives because I (a) lack the bandwidth to get meaningfully involved and (b) have a hard time understanding which might be scams. Before mass adoption, I think it needs to be much more frictionless and less prone to scams.

Would having the crypto content not displayed help?
