I tied my shoes too tight during a 🏃‍♀️ race last year, and as a result lost a toenail a few weeks ago Even though it wasn’t painful at any point I lost my mind when it first happened and was late to a party as I dawdled around my apartment freaking out about being able to touch the soft skin under the nail. I carefully protected it (from what I don’t even know). But now that it’s been gone awhile I don’t care anymore and it’s kind of fascinating. When you lose a nail an almost shadow nail forms. The skin changes. I am watching myself heal from an injury I have never experienced before. Is this how people who break a bone for the first time feel? Will probably be another 6 months before I have anything resembling a nail there.

On a similar note I have fixed a lot of my IT band issues by buying my shoes a size larger

These are as well! I also do that with all my running shoes! I did this initially because my feet were falling asleep while running. This is why I can only conjecture I tied them too tight. I've run long in them before this no issue
