a wonderful example of decentralizing protocols leading to vast community and intergenerational wealth as told thru the story of Celia's mexican restaurants https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/mystery-of-bay-area-celias-mexican-restaurants-sf-19527781.php

"“That’s how Grandma ran things. She probably should’ve trademarked it, franchised it,” Havlicek says. Instead, she offered fellow immigrants both the recognizable and beloved Celia’s name and a margarita-filled vehicle for their own financial successes. At one point, 21 different family members owned 15 different locations. And while that led to years of ownership confusion — even famed San Francisco Chronicle critic Michael Bauer got it wrong at least once — it was a selfless act that embodied who Celia was."
