here’s my take on the current state of nightlife: nightlife as we once knew it is now dead. intentional, well-curated events and experiences are winning because ppl are seeking community. mainstream club culture doesn’t hit the same. this doesn’t mean ppl aren’t going out at night, btw. but curated events and experiences are attracting more crowds….versus going out to a bar or club on a random night. we’re also seeing a rise in wellness-based events and communities. i kinda love this btw. (disclaimer — this is how i see it in LA, so correct me if this differs in other cities bc i’m genuinely curious)

This depends hugely on where you live, as you correctly pointed out. While you're seeing a shift in LA, the story is quite different in places like Greece (where I live). Despite the financial challenges, nightlife here is surprisingly vibrant again. Most importantly, the underground clubbing/raving scene in Greece has seen a powerful resurgence post-COVID. It makes me wonder about the trend you're seeing in LA. Is nightlife there also dying because younger people have shifted away from drinking?

i def wouldn’t put underground club scenes in the same bucket as traditional nightlife — to me there’s still culture/community involved!! but i think a part of what’s happening is also ppl aren’t drinking as much!!
