Do you know the story of Baron Hop, who left his coffee with cream and suger out on the heating of his rented appartment one night way back in the 1790s. The next morning, it was thickened to a softish block of candy. It was perfected by the confectionery maker he lived above and is now known as the Hopje. A lovely story of serendipitous innovation. Just launched $HOPJE, a clanker to celebrate serendipitous innovation from yesteryear. Innovations that have made their mark, but in which people have lost interest. Things that are not made anymore, brands that are not sold anymore. Maybe we can revive them in an onchain age. The candy invented by Baron Hop now lives on as a coin, even if the main maker just stopped production.

It really is an experiment to learn from it. But... do you have a story of an iconic serendipitous innovation?
