To me post-truth is good because it forces me not to care about anything beyond my immediate locus of control. Why do I care about the “truth” beyond what I see with my eyes. I have no agency over any of this stuff anyways.

My grandma used to share a story that I've repeated many times. Her father was a poor blacksmith and preacher in Appalachia. He lived until his late 90's. He never had a television, only listened to the AM radio. She told me he was one of the happiest people she ever knew. The only worries and cares he had where his family, and what happened to the neighbors in his "holler." Lived through two world wars, and died as happily as he lived. Some of us, especially the more empathetic, can mentally take on the weight of the world especially as its blasted in nonstop news cycles. What is the cost, and what is the gain?
