I don't understand the complexity involved here wrt windows hello and whatnot, but it seems to me that a passkey should function exactly like a physical key, except the lock cannot be picked and they key cannot be copied, and the lock can be set up to accept multiple keys (in case you lose your key) Allowing the keys to be duplicated creates problems around duplicating the keys -> keys can be stolen

It's very frustrating for users of this app that their platform can be taken away from them. I hope that this starts a movement towards mass support of decentralized platforms. But I doubt that will happen.

Blockchains are not "by definition" public ledgers. "A blockchain is a distributed ledger with growing lists of records (blocks) that are securely linked together via cryptographic hashes." Also, distributed ledgers are not "by definition" blockchains. Eliminate your preconceptions
