People in stories finding out that people are not who they say they are that comes to mind: - Odysseus being recognized by Euryclea, his old nurse recognizing his scar, after being reunited for the first time with Penelope in book 19 of the odyssey, has to pretend that he doesn’t recognize her and he is just a beggar - In Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, Imogene’s dead body is identified as not here because it does not have mole under her breast, I think it’s Posthumus who recognizes this - in The Mahabharata, Krishna, an incarnation of Vishnu, has specific markings and traits that allow his devotees and friends to recognize his divine identity but initially people do not know - when he reveals to Arjuna, you get the famous line - I have become death destroyer of worlds

Krishna is actually not the destroyer of the world, it's Shiva. But there can be many interpretations of that line, so, I can understand the confusion.
