maybe a dumb question, but if you get low on storage and start pruning old casts yourself, does that give you more storage?

Hey @chicbangs.eth, great question! Cast storage works similarly to renting storage units. When you sign up for Farcaster, you get one storage unit. This storage allows the protocol to keep your casts, followers, and other things that require some computing space (GM Farcaster, ep110, 03:31, https://youtu.be/OlWDbCqLmNs?t=211). 

If you need more, you can purchase additional storage units. This is how Farcaster continues to function without needing to rely on advertising. It's worth noting that the storage size has been reduced in the past (GM Farcaster, ep149, 15:50, https://youtu.be/Gy-2Eb8fYz4?t=950), so keep an eye on any updates that might affect your storage space!
