How do you answer the question “Where are you from?” As an immigrant who lived in a few countries I find it quite confusing. I assume that the person wants to quickly understand my language/cultural background, so go with “I’m originally from …, lived in A, B, C and now I live in X.”

I just go by where I currently reside but as an American I've never resided outside of the US. Otherwise, I'd probably say the US.

Growing up as a biracial kid, kids were always asking where I was from; and as a local to my hometown I would always be annoyed AF 😤🤬they weren't satisfied my answer was my hometown then home state then the US.
