Live the same

So, this is a story about a guy who "needs" blood. I found out what happened to him only a few days later.

He moved to the Dominican Republic a long time ago from a big city and started working as a tour guide on the Samana Peninsula - an amazing place, but if you are used to city life, life there can be pretty boring.

He ended up marrying a Dominican woman - the one who was laughing with her friend in the hospital hallway.. while this guy was on dialysis, his kidneys and liver failed. And why did this happen? Boredom. He started drinking and taking drugs, and in just five years, his organs completely failed.

There was no way to save him - he needed both a liver and a kidney transplant. That didn't happen. That's what a lack of self-control can do.

At first, I was shocked by his wife's reaction. But then I found out... that he had life insurance. And suddenly everything became clear.

A sad story. 
And we still had to figure out how to get back home.

While all this was happening, a friend of ours contacted us. He said that his car's engine had burned out, so he had towed it to some safe parking and was now on his way to us. By the time we were done, it was already dark, and we still had to get back to Bavaro. The last bus had left long ago, and a taxi ride that distance would have cost as much as an airplane wing. Spending the night in the city was not an option, because everyone had to go to work in the morning.

We started calling everyone we knew who had a car, but everyone turned us down. Only one guy agreed - he had just bought a brand new Hyundai Veloster and wanted to take it for a spin. There was one catch! When we called him, he was at a party... and already drunk.

There were no laws against drunk driving in the Dominicana back then. What?! Seriously - you could legally drive drunk! Talking on the phone while driving? Illegal. But drunk driving? Totally normal. He assured us he had only had a little and was already on his way to pick us up 😅

His car was still new after a drunk driving? 😃

In fact, this guy had already crashed two cars before this Hyundai, I don’t know under what circumstances, but he himself was not hurt, and neither was anyone else.
