You know what sucks about working as a photographer in studios that focus on families, weddings, and couples? It's the monotony...

You can grow as a photographer, come up with new ideas, buy expensive gear for it—but no one cares. The bosses just want happy clients, and the clients? They say, “We saw this cool photo by that leaning palm tree, we want the exact same thing.” Yeah, that’s the most common request—“We want the same thing.”

And when you shoot that palm tree from every possible angle several times a day, it’s hard to come up with something new or exciting for yourself… But you go to that palm tree and do what the clients want. That’s the routine. And honestly, it’s the same in every similar studio, no matter where it is—I’ve checked. 😅

But still, it’s an interesting job! 😊

It was surprising how many people said they never even thought being a photographer could become routine. But yeah, it can—just with some differences.

When your "routine" means taking photos every day by the ocean, surrounded by beautiful nature, it’s still routine, but a nice one. Sure, people can be awful sometimes, but there’s a huge difference between dealing with difficult clients in a dull office in a boring city and standing in the ocean, not caring that today's clients are a bit crazy.

I did this for four years, and if I had the chance, I’d keep doing it. Later, I worked in studios and shot weddings in big cities—and that’s a whole different story. Worse. A different kind of routine, the kind no one likes. Dull, exhausting, soul-crushing. But still better than an office job. No offense to anyone, but for me, working in an office feels like slowly suffocating 🫣
