In love with Isamu Noguchi's 1938 "Radio Nanny" in a completely inexplicable way. It is obviously a striking example of Art Deco - shots of Metropolis immediately come to mind. "Radio Nanny was the first invention for remote monitoring of children. The tragic kidnapping of the 20-month-old son of the famous pilot Charles Lindbergh in 1932 led to its creation. The device was produced by Zenith (the Apple of the 1930s), a company that produced designer appliances that people wanted to decorate their homes with. A microphone the size of a good speaker was connected to a head-shaped bakelite speaker with a wire. "Radio Nanny" by Isamu Noguchi is included in the collections of the Metropolitan and MoMA museums, and in 2008 its price at auction reached $22,800. It's even surprising that it has not yet been reissued as a speaker. Just imagine how spectacular Siri or music would have sounded from it. More photos and one interesting fact in the comments

However, the invention was not a great success, even though the kidnapping investigation excited the public for years and people were worried about children. "Nanny Radio" won several design awards but failed in sales due to technical interference because it operated on the same frequency as car radios and remote garage door opener systems. Drivers could hear the baby's cries transmitted by the nanny over the radio, meaning that instead of guarding children from kidnappers, the device helped to locate them.
