It took me a long time to really understand and thus come around on memecoins. I’m not going to intellectualize them but I don’t think they are some evil mechanism that is bad for the industry. 

The main thing I’ve been thinking a lot about is @jacob saying we should just call them memes and I agree with that.

For those upset or don't like all the memecoin stuff, I think it could be a good exercise to figure out how the mechanics could be used for something better one day.

For example, with @clanker you could be upset that they're spamming new tokens into ecosystem, but I can imagine something interesting in gaming (not gambling):

- Imagine you're playing World of Warcraft and you can create tokens for your guild. Trades and sales used with this token might have perks. This would require a similar mechanic to clanker or wow.
- Each faction within the game might use a different currency
- Potentially community coins graduate so they can be used on official auction house instead of just gold, silver, copper

Idk, my main point is to attempt to be open about it. Not saying to cave on your morals or anything! But it would blow to poo poo something only for it to be used in a revolutionary type of tech/game/etc in the future <3

Like it’s just a memecoin at first, but then people build communities, products, and apps around them. So is it still a memecoin at that point? At what point is it indistinguishable from a counties currency?

Sure, there’s absolute garbage being pumped out, but 1% are turning into something interesting with legit communities.

You make some great points. This is how I'm feeling as I'm coming around to the thought that investments can be fun and something to do less seriously (based on risk profile, ofc).

I think we're closer to the place where memes will have currency utility and can be spent on goods and services - focused on a specific community or otherwise.
