I think their point is that for acute illnesses (like cancer), doctors and big pharma do good. But the controversy is around non-acute things like obesity, heart disease, diabetes etc

Yeah I don't buy that conspiracy either... and I'm more on the crunchy woo woo side.

Overall, I try my best to be balanced. 

Personally, drinking a ton of kombucha did more for my IBS than any doctor ever did. But at the same time I wouldn't have tried holistic stuff for my cancer. idk :P

That would be a reasonable point. I see conspiracy flying that we have solved cancer, but don't tell anyone because of profits, I would be happy to eschew the whole system forever, etc etc
