Exploring Bluesky has been good. It reminded me the tech-optimist leftist bubble I've been in. The AI hatred among the left (yes, it's not just the libs) is insane. There are meaningful conversations to have around consent, scabbing, unemployment, social upheaval. It's coming and we will HAVE TO talk about these eventually. But instead, the left is abandoning reality and leaving it to the right to shape the narrative.

I’m old enough to remember a time where that aspect of the political spectrum was flipped. And then a decade of ZIRP turned everything upside down.

Is it because ZIRP funded tech companies, then they gained too much power, started to monopolize, and left reacted to the tech instead of those companies? Or another causality?

That’s my rough read. Tech was anti-establishment, culturally, until ZIRP. During the ZIRP-decade, we got dozens of internet IPOs, trillion dollar companies, tech ownership of media and distribution and a complete shift to mediation of digital money by tech infra. Tech is the institution now.
