people can't grasp the concept of scale. while communism might seem like a good idea, it can only work in a bounded context — family / small community. you can't scale a family. please, for the love of anything that is dear to you, stop people from pushing communism on a large scale. it just doesn't work. we got rid of it 30 years ago and the bad smell still lingers.

50+ East Europeans who lived under both systems tend to vote for communist parties nowadays, while <50 East Europeans who lived under only capitalism say communism was terrible. https://dspace.cuni.cz/bitstream/handle/20.500.11956/151322/120406107.pdf?sequence=1

i skimmed the pdf you linked, but i couldn't find support for your claim anywhere. explicitly communist parties don't make it into parliament here so i'm wondering what you mean by that.

My bad - I had multiple links open next to this tab, and shared the wrong one: https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2019/10/14/political-and-economic-changes-since-the-fall-of-communism/ Notably, it varies across countries. Another resource: How communist politicians formed now-socialist parties with success (Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania, etc): https://escholarship.org/content/qt3n25s046/qt3n25s046_noSplash_367d54c229171b7e342e73221b61d904.pdf?t=li5bpq

still... nothing about people voting communist parties. i mean, what clearer example of communism dragging society down do we need than the divide between west and east germany?

"ex-communist". Same communist politicians. Everyone knows them. West/East Germany difference was more of a CIA/KGB/Stasi competition than a capitalist/communist competition. Who propogandizes better? Who dumps resources to kick-start the economy better? The one who left peasantry 20 years ago and is making a lot of mistakes in a new system while spreads its resources to a 50-neighbour-borders? Or the one with no conflicts near its borders, is industrialized for more than a century now on a resourceful land?

> "ex-communist". Same communist politicians. Everyone knows them. yes, agreed. i think the og cast mentions the "bad smell" and this is imo it. communism is cancerous (pretty ideology in theory, terrible 2nd order effects).
