Just looking at the state figures, ~85% of the votes are counted so far, missing are mostly from blue states like California. I think he'd still be going less than 2020 figures at this rate, but you're right that it's not certain yet.

is there a source that shows total vote count being lower than 2020? seems like it wont yet be available.

lost votes for dems still mean, the states are more right than before? though I agree the metric here should not be used to quantify how much they moved right.
