Beautifully said. I think the crux of the issue is it's hard to define morality (or the objective function of maximization of well being & minimization of suffering). What is better; self-determination or a better economy? Trolley problem times 74,892 with as many variables and decisions.

It's important to know what humans need and understand that not meeting those emotional and physical needs will lead to more suffering for all. What is morality if not the maximization of well being and the reduction of suffering?  We are connected and what doesn't make things better for everyone will eventually make things worse for everyone.
