To those who say toxic culture is inevitable in scaled online communities: I’d say the web and email are doing well. There is toxic stuff of course but also sufficient tools to screen it out. Architecture matters.

Lots of things- but root problem is they should either build tools or let the community build tools

If I’m understanding, are you saying that email works because it’s a protocol in which many clients are built on today, and because people self select into those clients based on their values, like gmail, there is less toxicity within that client?
