i saw someone announce that it was 1 year since farcaster went permissionless and i got curious how much have i earned daily from just being myself here since then? total earnings from airdrops and rewards: $13,450 USD* > /degen (83% - bravo y'all) > /moxie > warpcast USDC rewards > airdrops i wouldn't have known about without @daylight daily earnings over one year: $36.85 this also doesn't include freelance contracts or gigs i got from @bountycaster and just browsing the feed. (and also doesn't include other priceless things like community and starting /unofficial) i am still conflicted on the idea of socialfi, but i attribute that to a resistance towards having a maxi stance on anything. this is legit life changing money, and i appreciate that this benefit - for me - has occurred primarily in the background of my actual social experience here tldr; balance is key. subtle socialfi. *at today's prices - i'm lazy af and haven't sold anything i've gotten :)

Socialfi feels like a toxic term for an amazing thing which is people getting rewarded for their contributions and not having it extracted from the predatory business practices of web2 platforms.

idt the term itself is toxic/am not against it i think how prominent the financial layer is within the experience can have drastic consequences on said experience. the more tangibly felt it is, the greater potential for inappropriate expectations/toxic behaviour for example, i've seen some creators spoken to in absolutely unacceptable ways bc they have a fan token (or because moxie simple exists and some folks think that means big creators are obligated to act a certain way). or bc they weren't using all of their degen allocations, etc tbf, this all happens in financialized aspects of traditional social media too. except there most of your rewards for enduring that is taken by those web2 platforms another big question i have right now is - is the current approach to socialfi sustainable in the long term? all of these projects are less than a year old and have had substantial upfront investment afaik. can they be self sustaining?
