My actual take though is that hip hop is dead and had been replaced with pop but it’s a very marketable term. When grunge turned pop at least they had the term Rock to use.

its a fair take, and theres a sliver of truth to it..but i don't really agree with it, especially in 2024 when genres and boarders are as blurry as they've ever been. i believe you can find whatever you're looking for these days. but you're not alone..especially when some of the hottest artists (Carti, Uzi, and Yung Baby) look super questionable at times.
