The Curious Hermitage

Sitting here at my desk and I saw a work crew pull up to my yard.

Went out to find out was going on.

Apparently, I got a "long grass" ticket in May - when I was in the hospital with a broken leg - and because I didn't contest it, they're tearing my yard out.

Flowers that were planted decades before I moved here.

Raspberry bushes.

Herbs and perennial edibles.

All destroyed.

I'm not having a good day, y'all.

At all.

first they come for the squirrels, then they come for your hedges.

Hopefully, a lot of the perennials will grow back.  But they took out a hedge I'd been shaping for years, and peonies and other flowers that had been planted decades before I bought the house.
