we are speed running the part of the cycle where we rediscover that headless brands and high agency don't scale without effortful coordination turns out "this is yours! do what you want!" is not an effective productivity engine

ehh i agree and don’t simultaneously the channel in my mental model is more a townsquare to actually build network depth & surface cultural artifacts or projects that can scale externally that doesn’t have to interfere with the ‘this is yours do what you want’ theoretically but atm it doesn’t map practically i admit until there are more subgroups doing whatever they want & getting traction, ppl are going to be bottlenecked by my stewardship somewhat

in advocating for broader, higher agency network participation, I think visible stewardship is required founders want the wild west, where anything is fair game contributors want lanes and boundaries that are well defined enough that they can be reasonably confident their efforts won't obstruct or harm others eg. channel moderation is not a wild west thing. but stepping into moderate a wild west channel is an area of ambiguous authority, which makes it an unapproachable task to any except (generally) the most reckless, or the most dedicated (and the dedicated have better things to do!)

greatly appreciate that you recognize that your stewardship itself can be a blocker, and think you should consider organizational structures for higher that create better definitions and boundaries for the network, and that introduce stewardship as deliberate function of the community

I have a LOT more thoughts on this, I've watched, led, and pushed for tons of community/headless stuff in the last few years, and higher is following a lot of patterns higher is doing really well as a community, but I think it's gonna hit an inflection point soon where just identifying with higher isn't enough to keep it going

i agree w a lot of what you’ve said we’re exploring organizational systems as opposed to structures to help provide those guard rails for contributors and personally i already feel we are past the point of just identifying w higher being enough part of the puzzle here tho is that humans didn’t change just the tech lol

as such i’m constantly weighing when is the moment to ‘let the kids bruise their knee’ and when is the time to be forceful about opinions & directionality simultaneously there’s a second order puzzle on how ppl subconsciously codify their expectations on how something will develop (ie. is this thing free to remix or is it a company led by a founder) ai agents i believe are a massive tool in helping fix some of these puzzles, just requires further patience imo to design, integrate, and scale appreciate the chat btw. it’s nice to talk to ppl who are elbow deep in the idea

agreed, sounds like you've got a lot of good ideas in the oven i'm also very excited about ai agents as something that can help close the information gap for new community members, as well as to determine, establish, and enforce community guidelines. many other things, too confident agents will go a long way for scaling and decentralization i've followed the work of The Ready for a long time, they dabbled with DAOs for a while. one of the big things i took from them was to establish and clearly define containers for contribution, not rules or procedures. defining the surface area gives people a clear idea of what they have to play with and what their wiggle room might be, and then they're safe to explore. that way, if they break the boundaries, then it's a clear violation, but they don't have conform to an SOP for how to add value.
