I've been trying to understand why doesn't EVM work based on parallel execution, like SVM, and why aren't there discussions around this as an endgame. Now questioning even more after hearing this great podcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbppZY8V0LI&t=130s

In case you hadn't seen this one. Same angle, Andre explaining their optimization efforts on fantom. And I was like, why is nobody on ethereum doing these things? https://youtu.be/HKxSfeJiDLA

But I believe that changing an existing non-parallel system into a parallel system would be more susceptible to errors, bugs and much more difficult to code compared to building based on parallelisation from day one. Also, an update like this would break every existing smart contract, because of compatibility.

I think they did not even go the parallelization route. It was mostly data structure and storage optimisations and a bunch of consensus upgrades.
