meds treat symptoms not systems but i don’t think there’s less people than diagnosed — ofc people who aren’t autistic or adhd slip through the gaps as with all things society tends to diagnose people with issues (which are then easily resolved with meds) rather than look to adapt systems to support different ways of thinking and being

yeah i have no idea what I'm talking about lol but the increase is noticeable in data, could be more diagnoses in general. maybe people who aren't diagnosed are just in a system that works for them so it's not causing stress I do think there's a lot of false positives tho as people look to be diagnosed and the industry makes money from it. but otoh maybe it's just a side effect of developing society. consuming so much data is a new factor great people throughout history were weird. maybe it's weird to be extremely comfortive. then I wonder if that's actually a myth, we're all pretty weird in some way. the most dominant move in lockstep, so what's normal is decided by their cohesion until it changes

it's okay me neither i'd say that society has been pushing productivity as the most important value over anything else for as long as i've been alive so it would make sense that people turn to stimulant medication if they feel like they're being left behind there's probably also an underlying mental decline caused by covid which may have pushed people over the edge from feeling like they were getting by to now feeling left behind it's also 'relatively' easy to get diagnosed providing you have the way to pay your way through and like you said, everyone is more productive on stimulants so at the time of the medical review they're gonna be like 'yup everything's going great, i'm a 10x worker now' wrt to conformity — i think we are all pretty weird, we do fit different patterns though in general (that's how we can have personality tests), but adhd and autism isn't really about not conforming but a group of people who all act and behave in a similar way but society doesn't have a place for them
