some things i think folks need to be reminded of occasionally:

> being nice, present, and helpful usually gets you through most doors
> those with logs in their eyes are quickest to point out the sticks in others'
> you can act like you deserve to be places, but that doesn't create an obligation for others to invite you
> not everyone will like you, and that's okay
