Are you referring to the latest EF-related drama? I’ve been pretty disappointed with some of the community being so hostile toward Aya and making things needlessly personal. I understand some people need to vent their frustration with the price action relative to other L1s, but this was unwarranted. Also, and especially with Pectra coming out soon, Ethereum is in the best technical shape it’s ever been. I don’t share the prediction that it will be irrelevant in eight years; though I do keep open the possibility that the “thin protocol” thesis plays out, i.e. Ethereum becomes widely used and yet doesn’t command a high market price, the same way that commoditized protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP…) don’t But I don’t see a contender competing for decentralization, permissionlessness & credible neutrality to the extent that it overtakes Ethereum’s network effects — there might be technically superior options in some narrow aspects but on balance I think Ethereum will remain hard to beat and displace

alas it exists until it doesn’t. are you giving up on btc over ~20 years or no? i think i still align with the opcode spam guy, and the old fashion chain model.

I’ve been on this thinking for a bit. And I try and keep an open mind about it all. Haven’t really thought about it much for ETH yet as ive mostly been thinking about it from the BTC perspective and I would agree with this.
