years ago, i left my job for XYZ company. when i left, the CEO told me "this is the biggest mistake of your career." 2 years ago, i left XYZ for web3. XYZ is now hiring and asked me to come back as a VP at 4x salary. they said current candidates were "underwhelming." the other candidate? that CEO what a feeling 😈

“This is the biggest mistake of your career” is never said by a competent manager at any level when people leave for new opportunities. Not only is that never true, it’s also a poisonous act — they’ve now ensured you will never recommend them, potentially even discourage others from working there.
