A definite feature of Trumpism was always going to be a repressive attack on anything resembling the Left -- how far he will go and how much he will bend the law are scary questions we have to ponder now.

if it’s that blatant and extreme I’d hope so, but I expect this to still have a chilling effect on speech

any university that has something unfavorable to the admin now knows it risks losing funding
- court case can take a while to resolve. even if they “win” they could lose
- admin can likely continue to restrict funding in new ways, possibly requiring a court case each time

I imagine this is enough for any non-succinctly-capitalized/motivated university to begin restricting speech
