would not recommend driving from Seattle or Vancouver, I've also done that a few times and it's an absolute slog

5 days is decent for a sampling to see what areas you like and decide if you want to go back and see more of the park. I'm definitely in the latter camp and wish I had made it more like a week and a half so I could get up north into Jasper which sounds very different/remote. Banff was fairly busy and has awesome amenities (which is great!) and I think Jasper would complement that with ruggedness and less tourists.

- hike to Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse
- Banff upper hot springs were actually cool
