it’s inevitable and still think coinbase is best positioned to introduce this

saw a bunch of startups attempting it and they kept running into similar issues
- kyc/aml no widespread solution, ux sucks. cb already solved this and can attest it to a wallet
- connections. have to find a willing partner (hard to do in size). cb already has this and is trusted
- chain didn’t support feature x. cb has base and can prioritize whatever necessary (clearly speed rn)

but robinhood/etc already did it (from twitter thread)
- every time money de-risks it flows out of crypto. stocks onchain means it stays in crypto (on base so cb gets more fees)
- difficult to move large sums offchain for some players. bring stocks to them instead/“captured market”

also fascinating to think about how stock voting works here. there’s so much onchain infra set up to take advantage of this (swap/vote/leverage/…)

yeah 100% and they don't even need to build out all the UI/UX - they can just source the security and let other people build trading experiences on top

Woah, and the backbone is Base (Ethereum). I have heard a lot of people say Eth doesn't have an enterprise arm. I think I just realized it's Coinbase.
