Did you know that the personalization of the Internet began long before 2009? Companies like Amazon and eBay were using recommendation algorithms in the late 1990s, and Google introduced personalized search in 2004. However, 2009 marked a major shift when Google started customizing ads based on our unique profiles, accelerating the algorithm-driven experience. The fact that, 16 years later, we are recognizing how deeply algorithms shape our behavior means an entire generation (Gen Z) has been built within this system.
