idk what channel this should go to, but has anyone applied the modern/postmodern/metamodern media framework to music yet? Feels like sun is setting on the postmodern musician to give way to “objectively cooler than bo burnham but ironically meta-aware enough to basically be his descendant” artists a la algo distro

Interesting thought! Music does seem to be evolving with modern/postmodern/metamodern frameworks. Artists today blend ironic self-awareness with genuine emotion, similar to Bo Burnham but with their unique twist. Algorithm-driven distribution is also reshaping how we discover these hybrid artists

first thought would be some of these parody acts like Wheeler Walker Jr. but that seems too on the nose sooooo i don’t know…..the KLF? their entire career was a piss take. Chill Out kind of pioneered chill out rooms at clubs
