gm woke up spicy today and ready to argue that cryptoโs biggest art innovation is actually just giving artists a CTA to share that they feel less gross about (mint is higher status than buy)

I don't really disagree with this take but there are levels of nuance to it. Like sure digital artists could have sold their jpegs on gumroad but it would have been embarrassing And there was no real market for it.

interesting, so in a sense artists can measure interest/response to the CTA as how valuable the status symbol happens to be now or in lesser future circumstances. though not sure all art is transient or static mint/buy, so crypto art hasn't achieved a complete CTA.

I remember that feeling when I first started minting my lens based motion art in early 2021. It was less about getting someone to buy it as it was about that satisfying sense that I was giving my work provenance on the blockchain. If someone chose to buy it that was a bonus.
